Wanderer II
Painting based on this picture of the Wanderer II, a Scottish scallop dredger.
Painted for a former crew member of this boat.
I confess that one obvious change I made was the angle of the top of the foremast which I tilted back to be more vertical. In the photo, it looked to me like it was unstable and leaning forward.
As usual I removed a lot of the details, especially the rigging, and concentrated on the main shapes.
I changed the sea to a strong viridian green which matches the colour of the hull. Although looking at the hull in the photo I think I could have gone darker on the green.
The overall tone of the painting is grey green with a few highlights on the life savers (lifebuoys) and crewman's jacket.
