My Painting Process
The blank canvas. Where to start? I block in the basic shapes and give them some colour. Starting with the ship, as the proportions of this matter.
Next the basic textures are painted and in particular the overall tone of the sea. In this case (daytime North Atlantic) I used 'viridian green' and 'prussian blue' as base colours.
Finally I finish off the details in the ship, cliffs and the lighthouse in the distance, give body to the clouds and add foam to the tops of the waves.
